I get the question often; "Why should I get a website designed from a high school student instead of a company full of experience?"... and if people don't ask it, they're usually thinking it. Answer: Well there's a number of reasons: - Price - While my services aren't free and sometimes not cheap, they're almost always less expensive than what big companies will design for. I'll often charge less than 50% of a large company.(I have little to no overhead cost)
- Service - Almost all other web design companies will design your website, take your money, and forget about you. I offer an updating service so you don't have to: figure out how to add content to your website, update your website, learn how to change and modify your website. I'll do all of it for you for a relatively low hourly rate; all you have to do is send me an email with the information you want added to your site and where you want it put and within 24 hours it'll be there. The same goes for updating the software and adding functions to the site.
- Teaching - If you don't wish to have me update the website for you, I'll teach you (and the staff of your business) exactly how to do it. (This service will either be at an hourly rate or added into the original contract as a lump sum)
- Hosting - Many other web design companies either insist you get your own hosting and deal with it yourself, or charge outrageous rates for a very small space. I give you a good amount of hosting space and bandwidth for a lower price.
A few more reasons that are meant to be humorous: - You'll be helping me! - I hate to sound selfish... but the truth is, I'd much rather you pay me to make you a website than pay some big outfit... It'll help me and a few of my friends who I subcontract to.
- Your neighbor's nephew who is good with computers isn't good at web design... - Yeah... everyone knows someone or has a relative who is good with computers and helps you out with all your problems. Isn't the younger generation great? The truth is, most people who are good with computers have no idea how to make a website, even if they think they do. I've been slowly teaching myself web design for the past 3 years and I still have a lot to learn. Your neighbor's 7 year old nephew does not have a web host or know HTML/CSS/Javascript...
- I'm not the average teenager. I know how to spell "I", "you", and "why", and "know" - "i don't no y u wouldn't think so!"
Thanks for considering me and I hope I'll be able to work with you some time in the near future! |
